ESR eBook for Undergraduate Education in Radiology

In the past few years, one of the main commitments of the ESR has been the improvement of the quality of radiology education throughout Europe and beyond. A lot has already been done for trainees and radiologists. At the same time, the ESR also dedicates many resources to undergraduates, to make radiology appealing to young, brilliant medical students. To that end, the Education Committee and the Undergraduate Education Subcommittee of the ESR have developed a unique educational project for undergraduates – eBook for Undergraduate Education in Radiology.

The eBook is created to serve medical students, but also residents in their first year(s) of training, as well as academic teachers to understand and teach radiology as a whole coherent discipline, respectively. Its contents are based on the Undergraduate Level of the ESR European Training Curriculum for Radiology and summarize the so-called core elements that may be considered as the basics that every medical student should be familiar with. The eBook is divided in chapters with content of each chapter prepared by foremost experts in that field. And perhaps most importantly, the eBook can be freely accessed by everyone on the ESR website.

After the successful publishing of chapters on Bile Ducts, Small Bowel, Large Bowel and Musculoskeletal Imaging, the 4 recently published chapters feature Cardiac Imaging, Paediatric Imaging, Central Nervous System and Ultrasound. This is an ongoing project and new chapters will be added in the future.

New ECR 2023 dates - March 1-5, 2023

Dear colleagues,

Dear friends,

This July, it was with the utmost pleasure that we organised the very first summer ECR in more than 30 years under the outstanding leadership of ECR 2022 President Prof. Regina Beets-Tan. The Congress highlighted the optimal multidisciplinary approach to patient care, and was an unforgettable return to an onsite meeting experience.

Although we have had overwhelmingly positive remarks from attendees at ECR 2022, the feedback that we have collected from our stakeholders also indicates that many would prefer future ECRs to be again held in March instead of July due to the clash of commitments that arises for many attendees during a summer meeting.

Alongside others, our industry partners have also expressed a considerable desire to move the dates of our annual meeting back to March.

The ESR carefully listens to all congress participants. ECR is and has always been about you, the attendees, and the countless opportunities for learning, networking, and socialising that are available when you join your colleagues in radiology once a year in Vienna. Creating a hybrid meeting, accessible both online and onsite will always remain a priority for ECR.

However, going forward we also want to ensure that the opportunity to enjoy an onsite meeting experience is available to as many attendees as possible. In addition, it is vital that we have the continued support of our industry partners.

With this in mind, we are pleased to announce that the ESR office has successfully renegotiated the dates of ECR 2023 with our congress venue, the Austria Center Vienna.

ECR 2023 will now take place on March 1-5, 2023.

Both abstract submission and congress registration will be opened shortly. You will receive information on these key events very soon.

We would like to thank all those who shared their feedback with us and for your understanding in this matter.

We very much look forward to welcoming you back to Vienna, sooner than expected, on March 1-5, 2023, where we will celebrate ‘The Cycle of Life' together.

Sincerely,
ESR Board of Directors
